May 8, 2025 Concert. A performance by all bands and choruses of Boynton Beach’s Somerset Academy Canyons.

Middle School Chorus
This program begins with our middle school chorus. Our chorus is made up of 18 6th – 8th graders. Many of these students have never sung in public before this year. I am very proud of their progress!
“How doth the little crocodile” is a fun piece of music that the students love to sing. But, it also has a challenge. The singers have to sing a 3 part round!
“May a rainbow run beside you” is a song based on a traditional Irish blessing. The song ends with the words, “And may happiness fill your heart each day, and bless you your whole life through”.
We finish this section of the program with “Zuka Zama” from Disney’s “The Lion Guard“.
Jazz Band
Our jazz band is an all volunteer after school activity. We meet for an hour every Tuesday afternoon.
Jazz band is an audience favorite. We hope you’ll enjoy tonight’s performance of, “The Pink Panther”.
High School Chorus
High school chorus consists of 6 highly motivated young ladies! They are some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. And, they are some of the easiest students to work with.
The ladies of the high school chorus begin their section of the program with the musical classic, “Blue Moon”. This song is part of what is called the Great American Songbook.
America has a rich tradition of creating music—classical, folk, popular, jazz, rock. The Great American Songbook consists of enduring standards, the songs that are played and sung over and over by multiple generations. These songs have a timeless meaning and resonance, whether they are days or decades old.
We complete this section of the program with “This is me” from the hit movie/musical, The Greatest Showman.
MS and HS Bands
Our middle school band has done excellent work this year. A few of the middle school band members have performed with the high school in previous concerts.
So, I decided to combine the middle school and high school bands for the final concert.
The music in this section of the program comes from successful movies:
- How to train your dragon
- Bridge over the river Kwai – Colonel Bogey
- The Incredibles
Combined groups
Tonight’s program ends with performances by combined choruses and bands.
The Chorus performs the beautiful melody, “Day is Ending”.
And, the beginning band joins the middle school and high school bands for a performance of Robert W. Smith’s “Furioso”.
Thank you!
Thank you for attending tonight’s program. Your kids may never thank you. They might act like they didn’t want you to come, but they love it when you are here.
Band and chorus doesn’t work without the support of our parents!
Thank you to Ms. Klein, Mr. Amendola, Ms. Tokan and Mr. Groezinger. This amazing team of administrators have consistently supported music at Somerset Academy Canyons and it has been my pleasure to work with them!
Lastly, thank you to the students. You work hard to make this music happen and I probably don’t say this enough…
YOU ARE AWESOME!
